Bench notes
Struck up on the same bench it will be sold from. The platen is within a ten-thousandth of round; the escapement clicks evenly across the full line; the bell is audible from the parking lot, which is the test.
Every machine leaves with its typed self-portrait: one page, all ninety-four keys if it has them, signed and dated by whoever struck it up.
